Crack Growth Rate Factors Source

Select from dropdown one of the following options for determining the crack growth parameters C and m.

These are used in the crack growth equation from [2] Article KD-430

       da/dn = C f(Rk) ΔKm

User Entered Bracketed Crack Growth Threshold

Enter the minimum and maximum values for crack growth. If the computed ΔK for a given load cycle is outside the entered range, the crack growth will be set to zero. See Crack Growth Threshold Parameter equation for a full description of how these values are used.

If the user does not wish to use this feature, values of 0 and 1000 can be entered.

Material Selection (for Table KD-430 crack growth rate factors)

This shows if the "from Table KD430" option is selected. This will look up the values of C, m from Table KD- 430. Note that this function will also look up the Crack Growth Threshold parameters, G, H, I, C2 and C3 except in the case that Austenitic Stainless Steel is selected.

Assume Leak-Before-Burst?

Select radio button option.

If "Y" is selected, then the 1/4 of critical crack size is set to 25% of the wall thickness.

If "N" is selected, then 1/4 of critical crack size is set to 25% of the crack depth at failure.
